Sewn with Love: Turning Kids’ Drawings into Real Plushies

In a recent art project (that has now become my favorite), my kindergarteners designed their very own Squishmallow-inspired plushies. My 7th graders took those drawings and brought them to life by sewing the plushies with felt.

The older students learned how to cut patterns and stitch with care, while the younger students were thrilled to see their creations made real. We wrapped up the project with a sweet “reveal party,” where each kindergartener got their one-of-a-kind plushie made just for them.

This project was a fun and meaningful way to connect creativity across grade levels—and the results were adorable!

Stay Creative,
